Dear Valued Customer,

On June 2nd, we delivered a virtual SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop focusing on how our customers can achieve excellence in managing the lifecycle of their hybrid software landscapes, comprising on-premise and cloud solutions.

Today, consumer demands and market requirements change extremely fast and therefore it is crucial that businesses remain agile and flexible to succeed in this ever-changing environment. This is a huge opportunity for IT to become a real enabler for business value – as IT can provide the tools, methodologies, and skills to drive digitalization that helps businesses to master these challenges and to become a true Intelligent Enterprise. In our workshop we showed how SAP MaxAttention supports our customers on this journey – bringing “Build” and “Run” closer together in “Hybrid Lifecycle Management” – contributing to these overarching goals:

  • Enable business innovation

  • Keep your hybrid landscape under control

  • Prepare future deployments at minimum cost

  • Reduce Total Cost of Operations (TCO)

The agenda for this workshop can be found here.

The day started off with an introduction to the most common industry practices – such as the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®), Site Reliability Engineering and most importantly DevOps and how they are reflected in well-known and recently updated concepts like the SAP Operations Control Center (OCC), the Customer Center of Expertise or SAP application lifecycle management in general. A focus was set on how SAP MaxAttention can support the transformation of IT to become a truely agile organization that closely collaborates with business teams, contributing to achieving strategic business goals.

(IT Transformation: Industry Trends aligned with SAP concepts)

This first session was followed by a session focusing on how to implement the Intelligent Enterprise following agile principles – using the operations platforms SAP provides to our customers. On the one hand there is SAP Cloud ALM, which provides a harmonized implementation for the intelligent enterprise, covering all relevant SAP solutions for cloud centric customers – and on the other hand there is Focused Build for SAP Solution Manager which provides an out-of-the-box, integrated and tool-supported methodology to manage requirements and software development in large, agile innovation projects – e.g. in SAP S/4HANA implementations.

After that, details were shared on how SAP supports operating an SAP-centric hybrid software landscape. After a brief introduction to the challenges customers may face during operations, it was explained how SAP’s operations platforms meet customer requirements. First, the capabilities of SAP Cloud ALM for cloud-centric and hybrid landscapes were introduced - targeting customers who are requesting a standardized cloud-based operations platform. Second, a few words were spent on SAP Solution Manager – the fully integrated ALM suite for on-premise-centric medium and larger customers and third, SAP Focused Run was discussed - the operations platform for service providers and high-end hybrid customers with advanced needs, that go beyond SAP Solution Manager and SAP Cloud ALM. This session closed with outlining how these platforms can integrate into existing concepts for operating SAP landscapes, like e.g. the SAP Operations Control Center or the Customer Center of Expertise.

The next session also had a very strong focus on the SAP Operations Control Center – SAP’s recommended framework and toolset for hybrid integration and business continuity. A customer example was used to showcase how the OCC can be made even more “intelligent” by adding machine learning capabilities for alert correlation, assisted threshold adjustment and anomaly detection – which is an approach that SAP does not only recommend to take for newly set up Operations Control Centers, but which also is recommended to enhance Operations Control Centers that are well-established at our customers.

The SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop was closed with a session explaining how services offered under SAP MaxAttention can be used to put the workshop content into practice and how they can guide our customers to achieve excellence in Hybrid Lifecycle Management, implementing and operating their Intelligent Enterprise in an agile, cost-efficient and non-disruptive way, while sparking business innovation with a very high quality – so that IT becomes a true business enabler.

We would like to thank all the presenters that contributed to the success of the event.
